It's All Over!

i am as predictable as pie arn't i? i just couldnt resist writing about the last episode of Sex and the City that aired tonight.

I love that fact that women instinctively scream when they are reunited with a long (or not so long) lost girl-friend whom they sorely miss - whether the women are carrying fendi and wearing blahniks, or whether they are wearing bonds chesties and havaianas.

Relationships that are old and familiar Posted by Hello

and i love the fact that a tv show can make me cry (when C and Big found each other, and they had this soppy 'teary moment) and then instantaneously laugh uncontrollably (when Big kept on insisting he has to kick russian arse). I mean... i was quite a sight!

Big: Look, I'm clocking this foreigner and there's nothing you can do to stop me! Posted by Hello

Finally, i'm also glad that COR showed himself for who he really was... what else can i say but "i told you so!" =) Now, dont get me wrong... i've never been a fan of Big... i dont beleive that any self respecting chick should deal with guys like that. Perhaps, as my very mushi friend Edi said, it was too mushy and not really reflective of what SATC stands for... but at least Samantha went out with 'a bang'... =) But hey, u gotta love a happy ending.

A happy ending? ...Abso-fucken-lutely! Posted by Hello

To re-live these final SATC moments, you can of course get the DVDs (which will come out in a snazzy shoe-box pack) or you can peruse the transcript.

"Faaaabulous", ala Samantha. Just a single word comment on your blog.

Now, for more than just a single word...:

"Perhaps, as my very mushi friend Edi said, it was too mushy and not really reflective of what SATC stands for... but at least Samantha went out with 'a bang'... =) But hey, u gotta love a happy ending."

Don't get me wrong here - i love a happy ending too =) I also love fairies and the Easter Bunny.

Samantha went out with a 'bang', but she fell in love... Good choice like no other, but comooooon, that's SO un-Sex-like. (By the by, did anyone else think that that 'bang' was complete with arms flying like chickens, and he looked like he was doing ab crunchers or something! Very strange.)

Charlotte got her baby - yay for her - and good on the writers for making the little cherub Chinese! =)

Miranda's love for Steve basically made her a live-in babysitter for the kooky mom-in-law. That "married woman, different responsibilities" line was played to the max. I did not like. First she has to move into Brooklyn where she'd never even visit in a thousand billion years.

And Carrie - don't even get me started on Carrie. Damn, woman, make up your mind. Yes, it was sweet, and it was the ending that could only have been - kinda like the Casablanca ending. Big *has* to be made out as the heroic saviour of aaaall the misery. Clever lil technique to make the audience feel as if he's righted all the wrongs he's "inflicted" onto Carrie.

My critique? There was too much reality for a show premised clearly on fantasy. US$40,000 on shoes? Designer clothes never worn twice? What better evidence is there? And what self-respecting woman would even be in a "maybe, maybe not" "relationship" for six years. That's too many quotation marks and way too little grounding - although please be the first to remind me of that if the time comes =)

Having said alllll of that, i really do like Carrie and Big together =) I love the whole "kid" thing, the suave charmer teamed with the stupidly playful flirt thing. I think that has my name all written over it. =)
